Questions about Facials and Waxing preparation? Schedule Session

Some of the most commonly asked questions about facials.

So what happens during a facial?

The facial itself will begin with a skin evaluation to determine the right products for your skin type. Your skin will be deeply cleansed and exfoliated, and your blemishes will be extracted and nourished. You’ll also be treated to a soothing facial massage to create that perfect finishing touch.

Facial services help increase circulation and stimulate the skin. They can also help slow down premature aging and drastically improve conditions such as redness and acne. Facials can be great preventative treatments to help you achieve lighter, brighter, younger-looking skin.

What should I do to prepare for my facial?

One to One Skin & Body facials are custom designed to work on your skin from the neck up, you will want to remove your makeup and please bring a hair tie. Makeup & perfumes can be reapplied after the service, so feel free. Men should be clean shaved unless bearded. Other than these few easy steps, simply be ready to relax and enjoy yourself in our private, comfortable facial room.

How soon will I start seeing results from my facial?

Some clients see results immediately after the treatment as your skin should feel different right away. The skin feels clean, silky smooth, rejuvenated with a visible healthy & hydrated glow. If your skin requires more long-term care or advanced treatments, such as skin aging, acne prone or hyper-pigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, results may not be immediately visible. We want you to look and feel your best and provide great skin packages for your continued skin health treatments and home care regime.

Can facial treatments help with my acne breakouts?

YES! There are a few different options that we can discuss with you. Facials that concentrate on extractions maybe including a Salicylic peel will be best suited to minimizing breakouts. LED (light emitting diode) facials with blue light are shown to greatly reduce p-acne, a common type of acne bacteria, thus reducing future break outs. Because the cause of breakouts is often unknown, a combination of different a combination of different treatment options along with topical at home regime generally provides the maximum results.

What can I expect after a Microdermabrasion?

Usually after a Microdermabrasion your skin looks and feels fresh. A slight tingling and redness may occur but usually goes away within a few hours. During the first 24 hours your skin might feel dry and tight. Some flaking may occur after the treatment. Be sure to use quality moisturizer and lots of sunscreen.

Some of the most commonly asked questions about waxing.

Is waxing for me?

Waxing is for almost everyone from head to toe and everywhere in between. One to One uses the most safe, natural and effective waxes in their treatments. The reasons are truly personal, an interest in enhancing intimate pleasure, being more hygienic, an improved appearance and feel, sports benefits for athletes, etc. People find that beautifully smooth skin is easier to maintain and more comfortable than shaving every day, not to mention worrying about that unattractive razor stubble.

We care about our clients so here are some important notes. For your health and comfort, we will not wax or sugar guests who are sunburned or using Retin A, Accutane, Tazorac, Differin or any other medication that exfoliate compromise the skin. Also, waxing or sugaring cannot be performed on people who have recently had laser treatments, plastic surgery, or sunburn. medications that thins the skin.

It is the responsibility of the client to discuss any concerns, conditions or medications that may be contra-indicated for waxing with their physician first prior to getting waxed. Also, please advise your wax therapist if you are allergic to any foods – because if you can’t eat it, you shouldn’t put the extracts on your skin. Please let me know if you have any allergies before treatment.

Does waxing hurt?

Every person has different pain thresholds and so experience waxing differently, however with regular waxing most find it becomes easier as the hairs become thinner, lighter and fewer after a few treatments. Our specialized hot wax assists in making your waxing treatment as pain-free as possible. If you have a particularly low pain threshold a ibuprofen half an hour before the treatment time tends to reduce pain.

How long should my hair be?

Hair should be between 3/4” and 1/2” in length. If your hair is longer, we recommend trimming prior to your appointment. After hair removal, we recommend avoiding sun exposure and excessive sweating to lessen the chances of irritation and in rare case infection.

What is the difference between hot wax and strip wax?

Hot wax is spread thickly onto the skin and allowed to dry slightly before it is gently peeled away. This method is far less painful than most and pulls hair directly from the roots. The benefits include fewer in-grown hairs, less breakage and therefore longer re-growth periods. This wax also promotes skin hydration and is highly recommended for sensitive areas. Strip wax is recommended for thicker/less sensitive skin, for example - legs, arms, back, chest, and shoulders. A thin layer of wax is applied to the skin and is then removed using a paper strip. We offer organic and house strip wax.

Brazilian Bikini or Bikini Wax?

Brazilian waxing refers to hair removal around your most precious areas from front to back. To some people it means removing all the hair from the bikini area, and to others it means removing everything but a strip in the front. The Brazilian technique has gained in popularity and involves removal of most hair from the bikini area, leaving only a small strip of hair. How closely you trim, shave or wax your pubic hair is a personal preference. You should do whatever makes you comfortable, whether it's a bare look, a more natural look, or something in between. Its up to you!
